The system supports healthcare facilities and patients during rehabilitation after knee surgery.
KNEE TRACKER ™Exercising after surgery is a vital part of rehabilitation. Unfortunately, patients often do not exercise regularly, or perform the exercises incorrectly. KNEE TRACKER ™ was created to motivate patients to exercise correctly and regularly. The system also allows a physical therapist to monitor the results of the rehabilitation of the given patient. The solution was custom developed for a British orthopaedic clinic. KNEE TRACKER ™ consists of two parts: mobile app and back office app. |
Mobile appThe mobile app is intended for patients after knee surgery. It is available for Android and iOS. The app provides an exercise schedule for the given day. The exercise schedule is delivered by the web side of the system through REST API. Each exercise consists of a text description and an instructional video. |
Game - Go Ollie GoWhen exercising, the patient can play a game. Its main functionality consists in communicating, processing and recording data from sensors located in the patient’s leg. During exercise, on the basis of data coming from the sensors in real time, the patient can control the character in the game. The app communicates with the sensor via Bluetooth Low Energy. After exercise, the collected data are sent to the web side. The app can also present results in graph form. |
Back office appThe back office app is intended for medical personnel - physicians and physical therapists. The app stores patient details and their rehabilitation history. The operator can define an exercise plan for a specific day and a specific patient. The main functionality is tracking the progress of patients’ rehabilitation. The mobile side communicates with the web back office side through REST API. |
System specificationThe KNEE TRACKER ™ mobile app was designed for devices with Android 5.0+ or iOS 11+. It supports different screen sizes. The following technologies were used: Bluetooth Low Energy, Java, SWIFT, LibGDX, REST API. The KNEE TRACKER ™ back office app was designed as a web app according to responsive design principles. It uses the Spring, Hibernate and Primefaces technologies. |
